No, I dont mean the TV show, I mean when someone use to take a job working for a master in his field and spend years learning what to do and how to do it in order to make that craft their lifes work? These days we seem to send someone to school for some book learning and then hire them on a job and send them out in the world to do harm.
Consequently we have plumbers, electricians, mechanics, HVAC guys, Alarm techs, everyone out there doing damage to people's houses because they really have no idea what they are doing. At what point will people realize that they might as well try and screw it up themselves as pay someone to come in and screw it up who will not care what damage they do in the process.
What happened to people really caring about the product people provided in their service? What happened to people wanting to learn how to do something, and do it right? For that matter, what happened to people actually have some drive to learn something on their own other that waiting for someone to walk up and give us the answer.
We have turned into a lazy society that would rather eat out than cook a meal at home, that would rather do something on a computer (like write a blog) than go out and work on something with their hands, and that would rather pay someone to do a job rather than try to understand it themselves. What will we do when all the people that know how to build, make, and repair things leave this world. Will we build machines to do all the work for us? How will the machines know how to do the work if there is no one with the knowledge to program the machines.
I encourage you that if you have children to pull them away from the TV set and the Video games and show them how something works or how to do something with your hands. Let them understand what it is like to get your hands dirty and sccomplish something on your own. Then take them inside and sit down for a family meal without the phone, TV, texting, video games, or anything
(stepping down off the soapbox)
