My wife purchased for me for my Birthday a Chainsaw. Specifically a Stihl MS 250 C-BE chain saw with a 16" bar on it. I have a hand me down chain saw now, that is electric. While it might be fine for trimming small blades of grass, its not really good for anything that is going to make it work hard. I even went through the trouble of a new bar and blade on it and in the end, it just doesn't cut it. Of course it is not a spring chicken, it was purchased at payless cashways, and they have not been around in awhile.
Back to my new toy, If you read on the internet you will find a lot of people cant start the unit and have flooding issues, I would like to say I was different but I wasnt. Trying to start it the first time, following the instructions in the crappy manual they provide, I flooded it and did it good. After reading up on a few things I ended up taking the spark plug out, pull the starter a few times, and left it that way overnight. This morning I tried starting it again based on info I had picked up on-line and it took some work to get it going, but finally I got it fired up and it runs like a champ.
But wait, you say, its a Stihl, the place it was bought from should have taken us through all the ins and outs of the chainsaw and this should not have been an issues. Well I can tell you that the guy my wife bought it from was very concerned about her just taking it home to me. He really wanted me to come in and have them take me through it. Of course when she told me this, I went, ahh, I can start it and run it fine. Boy, was I wrong.
Anyway the real test will be Saturday when I get the unit fired up and actually cut some things with it, I will post an update when that happens
