I took the slab I cut off the end of the tree and flattened it out with my chainsaw. I still need to attack it with my belt sander and work it down. I'm not sure what I am going to do with it. Maybe a clock kit, I don't know.
The large tree was obviously a bigger issue. I laid the tree out of a pair of saw horses so I could start cutting it down with my chainsaw
I cut a flat spot on one side and then flipped it over and did the same on the other. I know the cuts aren't that straight, give me a break.
Then I put the log in my band saw and cut the bark off the remaining two sides. I now had a basically square block of wood.
Then I put the log back in my bandsaw and roughly cut out some 8/4 sticks. I got two good sticks and then a leftover piece I can make pens out of or something like that.
They are now on a little rack on the wall with some stickers or let them breath and hopefully around 2012 I will be able to make something out of this wood.
