Follow up to the pieces inherited from my parents. what my dad told me about the wardrobe:
"the wardrobe was built in Fairfield, Freestone county texas by a cabinet makers named Daviss. It was built for Oliver Young Bonner and Sallie Hope Robinson sometime after their marriage in 1883. They used it in their home in the Bonnerville community and was moved into Fairfield when Grandma and Auntie moved there after Grandpas death. After Auntie died in 1943, PaPaw inherited it and it was moved into PaPaws and MaMaws house. Because it does not come apart and fold as some do, they only got it just inside the back door and had to take the door off the hingers to do that. In a rare show of independence, PaPaw never allowed MaMaw to make any alterations to it. She added shelves after he dies in 1961. MaMaw always kept our Christmas gifts locked safely away inside it. At one point MaMaw decided to divide some furniture but Tuck took the wardrobe because he didnt want to move it. After MaMaw dies in 1981 Tuck bought a house from Sallie and Warren and he and Aunt Sister moved into it. The wardrobe stayed in the vacated house. When Daddy dies in 1986 Tuck asked me if I wanted it and I told him I did. He told me to meet him up there and get it. Some other men showed up and it was loaded into the back of my pickup with little trouble. Mother and I drove to Tyler with it and unloaded it. While it was in the garage your mother washed it with soap and water but we never refinished it.
As you can see from the pictures, it looks awesome for being a 120 year old piece of furniture. It needs a little help here and there, which it will get, but it has a new home in our front entryway. I hope it will be happy there and enjoy the many years of its life with us
