Bandsaw Challenges

As I mentioned, I spent a lot of time at the bandsaw this weekend working on cutting out all the parts for the secret project.  I started with putting on a new 1/4" blade that I bought at the woodworking shows from Carter.  I had an issue getting it on, it seemed really tight, but I decided it was just me.  I tensioned it up and aligned it and just could not get it right.  I would get it fairly right, cut some wood, and it would all go to hell.  FInally I gave up and went to the other 1/4" blade I bought and this one slipped on and aligned with no issues.  Somehow I ended up with a blade that was NOT the right length.  I have e-mailed carter to swap me, we will see if they reply or what I end up having to do to chase this down.

Even though I had the blade on right and aligned and tensioned and everything I was still cutting 8/4 hard maple so it just would not do it.  Finally I switched to a 1/2" blade and decided I would work with the in-ability to make all the curves I had and things went much better.  The 1/4" blade just could not chew enough of that thick wood.

Everything I do with the bandsaw seems to be in threes.....
