Was out working on replacing a fence post Sunday morning (Man I hate broken off fence posts in concrete, nothing worse in life if you ask me) and we ran into the neighbor. She looks at me with sweat pouring down my face and I am dirty as a pig in slop and says "what are you doing working on fathers day? arent you supposed to be kicked back with people serving you wine and feeding you grapes?" I laughed at her and kept walkin.
I really cant stand all these ___ days that our commercial society has put on the calendar to push people to spend money. This last weekend was a great weekend and it had nothing to do with fathers day. We got a lot of things accomplished over the weekend, everything we needed to, M and I went to the farm on Friday to pick up the barn wood, bought my son his first gun on friday night, had family over on Saturday, more family over on Sunday and just overall had a good time. Had that happened any other weekend, it still would have been good, and the fact that the calendar says its a different date had nothing to do with it.
My suggestion to everyone - Make every day ___ day. Be appreciative of the people around you. Enjoy what you have and not what you dont have. Spend more time loving than hating. Most of all, even when life is crazy and catching up to you, stop and make time for the things you want to do.
