We took a family trip to the left coast for a few days, enjoyed the 60 degree weather which is a huge difference from back home. The thing I did not enjoy is the price of things. I know I am just a simple red neck from the south, but I spend most of my life these days on a airplane in all areas of this country and I am shocked at the cost of things in this town.
For example, breakfast at a diner, just a basic diner, nothin fancy. 12.00 for 3 pancakes. I can tell you I have never had a pancake large enough or tasty enough to be worth $4.
I have no idea how people live here, I can tell you even with a cost of living increase, we could not live the life (with out schedule) that we do now in that city. We would go broke in a week.
Somewhere along the line people need to understand its all a cycle. People want to be paid more so they get a raise, then the employer has to raise his prices to adapt for that raise, all of the sudden you are bringing home more, but you are also spending more. In the end, I would bet you are worse off than you were before the raise!
