Why does our government have to screw everything up

As usual the government is doing stupid things again.  Because of lobbying from people like Steve Gass (inventor of the sawstop table saw) the CPSC is considering mandating more safety equipment to table saws.  Steve wants them to mandate his product, for obvious reasons.

What I find most interesting about all this is they only ever seem to talk about table saws!  (maybe because thats what Steve's main focus is)  Nothing about Bandsaws and the number of injuries related to them,  or chainsaws, or sharp knives, or whatever.

I am all about a safe environment and providing reliable products to consumers.  But at what point do we put any of the liability on the user of the product?
