There is always something to fix

When you own a home, you know there is always something that needs mending, no matter what else is going on.  As I mentioned earlier, My beloved had a long list of things for me to accomplish and things got added to that list as the day goes on, not by her, but just running into issues.

My offspring goes into the garage and tries to open the door and it wont open.  He comes back telling me it wont open and he pushed the button like 30 times....  (He's 10 so you have to read that last part with a little bit of whining and lot of melodrama, go back and read it again, I'll wait.....

you get it now? )

I go to the garage ad lo and behold, he is correct, it does not work.  I assume it needs batteries since the light on it isnt working.  Wait, you probably have never seen my cool garage door opener....

Check it out.

Its a "I-Drive" and as you can see, it mounts on the wall above the door and drives the door from there.  No more overhead drive and clunky chain (or screw, or belt, or whatever)  Its quiet, gives me TONS of headroom in the garage and WIRELESS.  so there is no longer a wire running from it to the controller.  The controller is wireless and such needs batteries... Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

I change the batteries in the controller and still it does not come on, no blinky light.  I remove it from the wall and take it inside where I proceed to dismantle all its little parts and pieces where I can get better access to the battery compartment.  Once inside I realize that the tangs that push against the batteries have worn and are no longer making good contact.  A little nudge there and a little push there and all is good again.  Once more we have save mankind from another tragedy, at least, as far as my son is concerned.

Above is a picture of said controller.  You will notice there is a regular button below it, no this is not the old button that I did not take off the wall, this is for the door opener on the other garage door  (which by the way doesnt work and will one day be removed as I operate that door manually anyway...)
