There are big dilemas to deal with in life in this day and age. Some distract me during the day, some of them tend to keep me up at night.
I mean, its hard to keep up with your job, and your wife, and your child, and your family AND keep up with running a well stocked garage (and hanger now) ..... (confidential note to the LOML, at least I listed the garage last!)
Like:
- should I buy new batteries for my old 14.4V dewalt drill so I can put it out at the hanger? Or should I have one of the battery places rebuild the batteries I have? or should I just hang it on the wall as a memento and stop throwing money into old tools (I sure do love that drill, it has been good to me)
- A big one that has been bugging me for awhile is my milwaukee batteries. You see I have some milwaukee flashlights (4, a impact driver, and a hackzall, 2 chargers and a number of batteries.
Sounds great right? Problem is none of my batteries will charge any more. They all do the double flash thing telling me they are bad.
HMM, now I didnt buy all these batteries at the same time, but they all died around the same time.
Maybe that means its my chargers, maybe they have issues. Did some research and found out that some of the chargers do have issues, then again, so do some of the batteries
HMM,
What to do? Do I buy more batteries and hope the chargers arent bad? Do I buy more batteries and a charger to go with them (which would be a good bit of money) and continue to use these fine tools?
Or do I invest in something else since I have to spend the money
So lets say I replace what I have, hmm, how much would that be VS the cost of the batteries / chargers. lets go back to what I have.
Impact driver - no problem, can easily get compact version from any manufacturer
Flashlights - again, no problem
Hackzall - this gets tough. Milwaukee has theirs, Bosch has a knockoff that looks EXACTLY like the milwaukee, and recently Dewalt announced a version they have coming out.
Consequently, once I read that Dewalt had one coming out, I drug my feet on this decision, sticking my head in the sand.
When the saw started showing up I started reading reviews and such of it.
Then, a few days ago as I was thinking about what should I do, I did some digging on-line at some of my favorite retailers and what do I find?
A Dewalt kit with a Drill and a Hackzall, 2 batteries and a charger (yes, its a drill not a impact, but I already own a dewaly 12V lithium ion impact...)
Its the same price as other people have it for, BUT, they have a 20.00 off coupon for dewalt tools, AND they are giving away a 3rd battery for free AND it ships for free. (SCORE)
(Big shout out to Tools Plus, one of my favorite on-line tool stores!)
so I added a flashlight to the kit and off we went. (along with a couple of other things)
Few days later, the brown truck delivered me a nice box
The Hackzall is cool, played with it a little and cant wait to have a chance to use it for real. Also bought some blades for my Fein Multimaster, and a parachute ditty bag because my current one, which I use for nails, is overflowing with nail choices.
OK, well at least I can sleep now,
Except for worrying about the ozone, and deforestation, and..
OH well, never mind
