The Shower Project - beginning the re-build

Of course, what comes after all the destruction and demo and mess and all that, is the re-build.

First issue we had was plumbing, we had to get a plumber out to replace the shower stack, it was corroded and a big mess, while we were at it, we replaced the faucet set on the tub (since we are keeping the tub we had, we decided to at least update the faucet)

New Tub Faucet

new Shower stack, with new valves and all

Now its on to Dura Rock,

Installed Dura Rock on all the walls, and below the tub, and cut the Shluter Curb to fit

Biggest issue with this was I found the floor was not level.  Yes I know the shower base is supposed to slope to the drain, but the subfloor sloped towards the center of the room  (which is why the water stain was where it was)  I ended up building up one side of the shower 1" and stepping that down piece by piece over the run to get a flat floor that was now level.  (lots of cuts and lots of time)  But in the end we had a solid floor that was level

Then I had to cut the shower pan to fit, which is styrofoam like the curb, but it comes in four pieces.   I decided the best way to do this accurately was to create a template out of thin wood and hot glue

Note, its hard to feel tough and manly working and sweating with tools when you have a pink hot glue gun.

I'm just sayin

So the template worked and the floor fit really tight the first time out.

Next, is step overkill
