That Room

We have a room in our house that has somewhat changed from one thing to another many times since we moved in.  We have never really found a good use for it.  As my beloved and I were talking about things one day she mentioned to me that we should build some cabinets in that room to put my collection of things that go bang.

Hmm,  thats is an idea.  I guess I do have a pretty decent collection of those types of things...

I took some measurements and started working on some plans.

First thing was to build base cabinets that would be the same height as the window once the countertop was on.

nothing really fancy.  Its all Oak plywood because it will be stained down the road.  The middle section is going to be a window seat and the countertop will be hinged to access that area.

Then I built a face frame for these cabinets, and assembled the countertop from some Oak flooring I happened to have

Then it was cut the hole for access in the middle,

install the piano hinge, and stain the countertop

then it was build the main cabinets that will hold the whole reason for starting this project and building all these cabinets to begin with.

I know, impressive boxes aren't they?

and then the cabinets across the top that will frame the window out and fill to the ceiling.

and thats where I am right now.   Need to get some electrical work done to get some wires in for some lights that will be in the main cabinets, then get the boxes stained and permanently installed, then a face frame for all of them, then doors(umm, thats 16 doors for those of us keeping count, 4 of them with glass inserts) , then build out the interior of the cabinets so that they may hold the products that they need to hold which was the reason to start this project to begin with.

and then put down new flooring in the room,  baseboard and crown molding....


Wow, there is still a lot of work to do in here, guess I should stop typing and go do something.
