FINALLY!!!

Well,
2 days short of 12 weeks worth of effort on our part finally paid off.  We were able to show up and give our hard earned money to people and have them give us a piece of paper in return...

I luckily have a very large printer at work and printed out a copy of the survey to hang on the wall in my office.  That way when things get really crazy at the office (and they are getting crazy), I can turn around and look at that.

Couple of days after we signed the papers and got the land for ours for real, we went out to deal with the locks.

I changed the locks on the door to a new set and then re-keyed the lock to match a key we already have on our key ring

Let me tell you, that door lock was a challenge all the way around.  It is a metal door (fine, no big deal)  replaced the door knob with no issues.  All the parts fit and it fit into the jam, no problem.  Went to do the deadbolt and all the parts fit fine, but the bolt itself wouldn't fit through the hole in the door.  No problem right?  Pull out my dremel tool and I'd be done in 5 minutes.

Of course, I didn't have my dremel tool with me.

and I didn't have any files in my bucket either

ended up working the lock with a macgyvered handle / metal jigsaw blade.  Finally got the bolt to clear the door (Whew, took about an hour)

Then of course went to lock it into the jame and it didn't work there either.  Pulled the lipstick out of my bucket to mark where it is hitting the jam and went to work on that hole.  (yes, I carry red lipstick in my tool bucket, doesn't everyone?)  Problem was I just could not get anywhere with this hole.  It was a short stroke because the pocket in the jam was shallow and the blade just wouldn't grab or cut or anything.  I finally gave in, and drove into town to buy a set of metal files
Yes, first day with my new place and I already had to buy a tool,  What can I say.

Hi, my name is DD and I have a tool problem...
Well, its not really a problem,
I can stop anytime

really I can

really

Ended up using the files to get it to close and lock well in about 10 minutes worth of work.

While we were there we also changed the 47 different padlocks on the hanger doors and storage buildings and such to new padlocks that are not only keyed the same, but also keyed the same as a lock we already have.

I know, its just crazy

The next day we ended up going back out there, and I brought my dremel took to clean up the holes to make them look better on both the door and the jam.  Took me less than 5 minutes
