So last year (actually I think it was Christmas 2009, but anyway) D's aunt and uncle told us they wanted to take out their Sliding Glass Door and replace it with a french door. I, of course, told them I would love to help them with it and when were they going to do it.
As usual everyones lives get in the way of doing what you want, fast forward to early 2011 and J tells D that she is going to order the door and we are going to do it. So we pick a weekend we have free and set it up.
So last Friday, M got out of school at noon so we loaded up the Tahoe with tools and clothes and the kitchen sink and drove 3.5 hours to M&J's farm. (We took Z with us too so that JP could have some adult time)
We got there early enough Friday that we were able to let M and Z both drive the tractor (big M's pride and joy) and even feed the cows.
Saturday morning though, we got up early and got going on the door, here are some before pics
In one day we were able to take out the old door, re-frame for the new door height and width. Sheet, insulate, and side the exterior, install the new door, Insulate, drywall, and panel the interior. And trim the whole thing. Only thing we did not do was paint all the trim we put utp
Here are the after pics
Here are a few action shots
Thats Big M with some dork in a Bama Shirt
door installed, still working on the outside
oh yeah, dont forget our 2 helpers....

I was very happy with the end result and I think M and J were also.
