I believe I have shared this before, but I love my truck. Its comfortable to drive, gets good enough gas mileage for what I do, holds what I need it to, EXCEPT, the radio. I have had trials and tribulations with the radio. There was the replacement radio that caused more issues that it helped, there was the Sat radio that worked pretty well once I got the FM direct adaptor, then nothing. And those who know me, know I hate commercials. Consequently I spend a lot of time driving down the road with no music, and those who know me know I hate that also.
After much research and time spent I did find a FM modulator kit on Amazon that I could install that would give me that aux input. I have had it for a couple of months now and just havent had the time to mess with it. Well that has finally changed.
I took the dash apart, radio out, etc. I found a hot wire to drive the modulator, drilled a hole in the dash for the switch, drilled another hole for the cable to come out, and wired the system up. Finally I have the ability to listen to what I want, when I want.
A few pics to show it did happen
Truck with new modulator installed. Its definitely a sleeper installation. Only way you can tell the difference is the cable coming out of the pocket in the dash.
Another view
The cable to nowhere...
The switch to turn the modulator on is on the bottom of the dash under the cig lighters. You cant see it, I just know its there
Hopefully this should help with the tunes going down the road
