Yes, the fireplace again
Now its all about the finishing touches
cope the baseboard to match the base molding on the fireplace
Wrangle all the wires for the TV
Stain all the wooden pieces of the fireplace... This, turned out to be a challenge. We went through all the different stains we had, plus a couple extras and nothing looked good.
(those were test pieces that we were able to use to try the stain out on, no real wood was hurt during this testing process and you can be assured that all wood care guidelines are followed during our staining process and we always have a officer from the local be kind while staining your wood coalition in place while performing these tests on wood to ensure that all proper guidelines are followed)
We ended up doing a layered stain. Started with a Gel stain called "red elm" and then a layer of "black walnut" By themselves the red elm was almost purple, and the black walnut was WAY too black, but together we get a nice looking stain that the woodgrain stands out on.
Here is the base with the first coat on it
and working on the side and top pieces
Here is the base with its final coat and poly, along with the side pieces with their final coat and poly
We are rounding turn 4 and headed to the finish!
