Nothin, is getting through this baby...

as I mentioned in the last status update, the next step was project overkill

We painted a waterproofing barrier over all the dura rock

yes, the red stuff

It creates a water barrier on any surface, and fill gaps and screw holes and all that.

why is that overkill you say?

Because the next step was this

Schluter Kerdi Material in the vertical corners

and the bottom edges

and the walls

and the rest of the walls

and the floor

and the curb

The waterproofing membrane is put down with thinset mortar just like you put down tile.  And every corner or place where water will collect or possibly penetrate is covered with multiple layers.  It is a long process, no doubt, but we want to make sure any water in the shower goes down the drain where its supposed to.
