but hopefully, I dont do that.
K's new kitchen cabinets for the wall, run into the roof line about 1.5". Rather than push them down and not have enough room between the countertop and the wall cabinets for all the cool kitchen appliances, we decided to notch the back of the cabinets.
I started by making a template at her house that matched the size of the cabinet and I cut it to match the slope of the ceiling change.
I then marked that on the side of the cabinet, then offset that mark by 1/2"
I added a 3/4" cleat to the top of the cabinet for support, then a 3/8" cleat on the back also for support. (glued, screwed, and stapled)
I was able to set my tablesaw to the correct angle, the fence to the right distance, and cut off the angled notch on the back of the cabinet.
It looks pretty good, only left about a 1/2" gap in the wood.
I then beveled and cut a piece to connect the back cleat to the top cleat, covering the open gap in the back of the cabinet, and bringing the cabinet back solid again (glued and stapled)
All in all, I think it worked out pretty well, the cabinet stayed square and solid, and fit well when I carried it back and put it on the wall.
I am now working my way down the wall, one cabinet at a time doing the mod
