No, not fishy, but something definitely smells bad.
Where?
in my Camaro.
Yep, I know its older than I am (which is really old by the way) and maybe it doesn't deserve to smell fresh and clean. but its not even that. Its smells bad-bad.
Like something died bad.
so one day I decide to pull all the seats and the carpet. What do I find. Dead mice.
did I mention it smelled like something died?
so to back track, I have had a feeling for awhile that when I purchased this car, I got a bonus.
yes, My shop is out in the middle of nowhere, and I do tend to have animals around my shop. But no other vehicle or area has been an issue, except for my car. Basically I think there were mice living somewhere in the car when I bought it, and I brought them home with me. Hopefully this process with make sure they are dead or gone.
and since the mice in the car were dead (good thing) then all sorts of fun stuff got in the carpet (bad thing) so that means the carpet has to go.
Now, how can I make sure the mice are gone and can never get back in.
step 1 - remove all the interior panels, make sure everything is cleaned out.
Step 2 - Hush mat - or in this case, mouse mat. Its a self sealing rubber membrane that helps with road noise, heat, creaks and etc. A lot of people use this stuff in their hot rods to help with all these things. I am also using it to make sure that mice dont have any access holes left to be able to get back into my ride.
before
After
I guess I shouldn't say after. I should say half after. Still have to get more hush mat to get the rest of the floor and trunk covered to complete the seal.
Then I have new carpet to install, put all the interior panels back in, and hopefully Mickey wont be able to make his home in there anymore.
BTW, also read about a neat mouse trap, related to a 5 gallon bucket, a coke can, and peanut butter.
So far, it has worked well enough to catch a few mice. We will see how it works in the long run.
