CARPET!!!!!

After many years of talking about it, we finally got tired of the old carpet and decided to put new carpet in any room that we planned on staying carpet long term.  That works out to be the downstairs bedroom, the stairs, M's room, B's room, and our closet.  Anything else that is currently carpet, we plan on it being hardwood sometime in the future

On top of this we have an issue of squeaking floors upstairs because the builders were lazy and did not glue the subfloor down or use ringshank nails.  We have decided that anytime we replace flooring upstairs we go through and screw all the subfloor down to the joists to cut down on the creaking floor.

Now, if only there was some easy way that we could put these few hundres screws in the floor without being on my knees doing them one by one.  If only there was some great tool that could do this.

OH YEAH!, there is a tool, and not only that, I own one already....  (partially because of this and partially because of drywalling kathy's kitchen in her old house)

Makes it so easy to put screws in the floor from a standing position and have it autofeed the next screw off the strip of screws.  AHHHHH, its nice to have cool tools.

Anyway, back to the story, so the point is we pulled up all the old carpet and padding and hauled it down to stack into my pickup.  Screwed all the floors down and cleaned up as best we could.   It was a bit of a challenge as we did this on Sunday and the carpet was put in monday and M had to have someplace to sleep, but we worked it all out.

Monday morning the carpet people showed up when promised  (although this has not been without a lot of calling and complaining on our part to get this done when we needed it done, but lets not go there right now)

They did a good job on all the carpet and we are happy with the outcome

This morning I got up and hauled the old carpet off to the dump

(yes the picture is dark, thats because it was dark outside...)
